SC.6 Communication Of Design Ideas Flashcards
Freehand sketching
Used to present idea in graphical form. No measurements, quickly gettind ideas down
Isometric projection
Allows drawing an object in 3D w/o using perspective
One-point perspective
Shows view becoming smaller as it gets further away & converges at a single vanishing point. Shows what smth looks like in relation to surroundings
2D & 3D sketching
2D useful for plan views, showing dimensions
3D helps show how it may look/feel irl
Schematic diagrams
Represetnations of a system, shows how components connect. In electronics, symbols represent components (eg. Switch, lamp)
In fashion, schematic diagrams known as flats. Clearly outlines details of garment but doesnt show body
Exploded diagrams
Show the constructional detail & assembly of a product. Shows parts which may be hidden from view once assembled
Annotated drawings
Details, explanations of drawing
Mathematical modelling
Graphs, charts. Helps predict behaviour of system before designed
Audio & visual recording
Used to gather interviews w user groups, feedback, recording focus group to see & hear how they react to product
Videos or photos can show how product works or stages of manufacutre
Working drawings
Or orthographic drawing, contains plan, front, side view. Contain dimensional & graphical info that can be used to assemble component
