SC.8 Quality Control & Tolerance Flashcards
Quality control (QC)
checking product against the manufacturing specifications
Quality assurance
procedures to manage all functions that affect quality (manufacturing)
Tolerance
The amount of erorr allowed for a given task. Applied to measurements, there will be specified range which is an acceptable difference between upper and lower limit.
Go/no-go
A go/no-go gauge is used to check dimensions are within specified tolerances.
Eg. When checking drill hole, if the go gauge fits but no-go gauge doesnt, the hole is within tolerance
Laser settings
Accurate process as the laser beam does not blunt or wear out. The speed, power & dimension settings must be set according to material
Seam allowance
The area between the line of stitching & edge of the fabric. Tolerance is very small so accurate stitching is needed otherwise pieces will not fit as intended
