Role of the Sergeant Major.
Duties assigned by the commander on the discipline, welfare, conduct, morale, and leadership of enlisted personnel.
Define supported-supporting relationships.
Support relationships are established when one element or unit of the MAGTF provides a required capability to another.
Each support relationship is designed by the MAGTF commander to fit the situation at hand.
A supporting-supported relationship allows required support to be provided by one MAGTF element to another without the need to change existing command relationships. Supported commanders do not exercise command over supporting units.

Define TPFDD
Time-Phased Force and Deployment Data (TPFDD) - The Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES) database portion of an operation plan; it contains time-phased force data, non-unit related cargo and personnel data, and movement data for the operation plan
Define Combined Operations as it applies to MAGTF employment.
- Multinational Operations. An operation conducted by forces of two or more nations. 2. An operation conducted by forces of two or more nations in a formal arrangement is termed an “allied” operation. 3. Military action in a temporary or informal arrangement for common interests is termed a “coalition” operation. ***Though the description of “multinational” always will apply to such forces and commanders, they also can be described as “allied,” “combined,” “alliance,” or “coalition,” as appropriate.

What is a MEF?
The Marine Expeditionary Force is the principal Marine Corps warfighting organization. Capable of missions cross the range of military operations, through amphibious assault and sustained operations ashore in any environment.
With appropriate augmentation, the MEF CE is capable of performing as a JTF headquarters. Each standing MEF consists of a permanent CE, 1 MARDIV, MAW, and MLG.
What is Administrative Control (ADCON)?
ADCON is defined as the direction or exercise of authority over subordinate or other organizations in respect to administration and support, including organization of Service forces, control of resources and equipment, personnel management, unit logistics, individual and unit training, readiness, mobilization, demobilization, discipline, and other matters not included in the operational missions of the subordinate or other organizations.
What is Operational Control (OPCON)?
OPCON is the authority to perform those functions of command over subordinate forces involving organizing and employing commands and forces, assigning tasks, designating objectives, and giving authoritative direction necessary to accomplish the mission.
What is Tactical Control (TACON)?
TACON is the command authority over assigned or attached forces or commands, or military capabilities or forces made available for tasking that is limited to the detailed and usually local direction and control of movements or maneuvers necessary to accomplish assigned missions or tasks.
Define Joint Task Force as it applies to MAGTF employment.
Joint Task Force (JTF) - A JTF is a joint force that is constituted and so designated by the SecDef, a combatant commander, a subordinate unified command commander, or an existing JTF commander.
A JTF may be established on a geographical area or functional basis when the mission has a specific limited objective and does not require overall centralized control of logistics.
Define coalition as it applies to MAGTF employment.
Coalition - An ad hoc arrangement between two or more nations for common action.
