Discuss a proper layout of base camp facilities with regard to field sanitation.
As far from food operations as possible (100 meters or more). Downwind and down slope, if possible. Down slope from wells, springs, streams, and other water sources (30 meters or more). Always provide handwashing facilities at the food service facilities and the latrines. Make use of handwashing devices at latrines mandatory.

What are the characteristics of the cat hole latrine?
12 inches across and 6 to 12 inches deep. Immediately cover the hole after use. These are used while on the move.
What are the characteristics of the saddle trench latrine?
1 foot wide, 4 feet long, 2 1/2 feet deep. There should be 3 per 100 females and 2 per 100 males. These are used while in the field and on short bivouacs
Name some ways to purify water.
Preferred: Iodine tablets, 2/canteen. Alternative: Chlorine Ampules, Emergency Water Treatment Kit (CHLOR-FLOC Tablets) Household Bleach, Boiling (Atleast 5 min preferred)

S&S First Aid Excessive seating with pale, moist cool skin Move patient to a cool, shady area Headache Loosen or remove clothing and boots (unless CBNRE) Weakness Pour water on victim and fan Dizziness, confusion Slowly drink at least 1 canteen of water Loss of appetite Elevate legs Nausea without vomitting Monitor the casualty until the symptoms are gone Chills, urge to defecate and rapid breathing
