Explain the mission and purpose of Marine Corps aviation.
Primary mission: To participate as the air component of the MAGTF in the seizure and defense of advance naval bases
Collateral mission - to participate as an integral component of naval aviation in execution of other Navy functions as the fleet commanders so direct.
Explaint the composition, mission, and purpose of MAW.
Marine aviation is devided into 3 active MAW and 1 reserve. MAW provides personnel and equipments for MAGTF ACE.

There are two forms of air defense:
Active air defense.
Passive air defense.
What is Assault Support?
The use of aircraft to provide tactical mobility and logistic support to the MAGTF.
What is Air Reconnaissance?
The acquisition of intelligence information by employing visual observation and/or sensors in air vehicles
What is Electronic Warfare (EW)?
Any military action involving the use of electromagnetic (EM) and directed energy to control the EM spectrum or to attack the enemy
What is the mission/purpose of a MAW?
To participate as the air component of the MAGTF in the seizure and defense of advance naval bases, and to conduct such land operations as may be essential for the prosecution of a naval campaign.
What is the function of a Marine Wing Support Group (MWSG)?

MV-22 (Osprey) is:
Dual-piloted, multiengine, self-deployable, medium-lift, vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) tilt-rotor aircraft.
Can carry 24 combat-equipped troops or a 10,000-pound external load
Provides:
Combat assault support, logistics support, and special operations support worldwide
Will operate from air-capable ships and austere forward operating locations
Is capable of inflight refueling

What is the mission of a Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron (VMU), and what aircraft do they employ?
Operates and maintains a UAV system to provide unmanned and aerial reconnaissance support to the MAGTF.

Marine Logistics Squadron (MALS)
Provides aviation logistics support, guidance and direction to MAG and Navy funded equipment in the supporting MWSS, MACS and Marine wing mobile calibration complex.
