- response bias e.g choosing same ans for all
- social desirability bias
- misunderstanding of questions as lacks clarification
What are structured interviews
Pre set standardised questions delivered in a fixed order
+ and - of interviews
+ easy to replicate as consistent format
+ easy analysis
- limited depth as answers may lack detail
- restricts follow up questions
What are unstructured interviews
More like a convo, answers may vary and develop based on responses
+ and - of unstructured interviews
+ rich and detailed data as more valid insight into behaviours or attitudes
+ flexible as interviewer can clarify or explore
- harder to analyse due to qualitative data being time consuming to interpret
- interviewer bias as responses may be influenced by question phrasing
What are open questions and evaluate
Allow detailed and qualitative responses
+ greater insight rich data
- hard to analyse and time consuming
What are closed questions and evaluate
Provide fixed responses e.g yes no
+ easy to analyse and quantify, quick responses
- limited depth and restricts answers
