1

Kirchoff's voltage law states that in a closed loop, the sum of applied voltage(s) must equal...?

The sum of the voltage drops in the loop.

2

What is the major factor in identifying a series circuit?

It will have only one path.

3

How should one obtain the total resistance of a series circuit?

Take the sum of each individual resistance in the circuit.

4

Does the current through any one load in a series circuit ever differ from that through any other load?

No. (Ohm's Law can help prove this)

5

What happens to total current in a series circuit when a new resistor is added?

It will decrease.

6

What happens to total resistance in a series circuit when a new resistor is added?

It will increase.

7

What happens to the voltage drops across the original resistors in a series circuit when a new resistor is added?

They will all decrease to accommodate the new load voltage drop.

8

In series, is the voltage drop of a resistive load directly proportional to it's resistance?

Yes it is.

9

What happens to total current if a resistor in a multi-resistor series circuit is shorted out?

It will increase.

10

What happens to total resistance if a resistor in a multi-resistor series circuit is shorted out?

It will decrease.

11

What happens to the voltage drops across the original resistors if a resistor in a multi-resistor series circuit is shorted out?

They will all increase

12

What happens when one resistor burns out in series?

Current will stop and all source voltage will be found at the air gap.

13

What will be the voltage drop across an open switch in a simple series circuit.

Source voltage

14

What is a ratio?

What is a rate?

What is a proportion?

A comparison of two like quantities.

A comparison of two unlike quantities.

Two equal ratios (usually used when transposing for an unknown with three known values).

15

How would one set up a direct proportion?

How about an indirect proportion?

With both numerators being the smaller of the two numbers

With one numerator as the smaller number and the other as the larger number.

16

What is the voltage divider rule?

Voltage divided between series resistors is directly proportional to the resistance of the resistors.
