What does the liberty protection safeguard (lps) do and who does it protect
LPS is part of the assessment to remove someone’s ability to make their own medical decisions, this affects the vulnerable groups like elderly and learning difficulties who lack the relevant capacity
What does the CQC stand for
Care quality commission- protection over individuals over 18
What does multi disciplinary team mean
Multiple consultants under different branches of specialty sharing relevant information (on a need to know bases) to provide the best overall care for a patient
What does proportionality mean in regards to the care act 2014
Weighing up what the individual needs and comparing it to the risks, seeing what will do more harm and what will be more beneficial
What is a secondary condition and why is it important
A condition that the patient also has but is not why they are seeking medical attention at this time, you need to be weary because something you give them (medication) could effect the 2nd condition and vice versa
What is meant by holistic care
Holistic care is taking all information into consideration and looking at the patient a a whole, background, race, medical history, family history etc
What is personalistaion
Adaptations made to be specific for that individuals needs ie care plans which should be renewed at least every 6 months but possible more if needed
When is advanced care planning such as end of life care completed
As soon as you know you are terminally ill so all professionals and family members can be aware of you decisions and help to uphold your wishes
What is autonomous practice
Following the regulations and legislations in place to keep themselves and patient’s safe
What is person centred care
Keeping patients involved int heir own care as much as possible when it is safe, enabling them and keeping the care personalised
