What are the main methods of training?
-continuous

Main factors when choosing a method or training?
-requirements of the sport
-the facilities in the local area
-individuals current level of fitness
What is continuous training?
Steady training where working heart rate isn’t very high and you will be working in your aerobic zone
What is fartlek training?
A method for runners where speed and terrain are constantly changing. Includes periods of work followed by periods of rest or light work
What is Circuit training?
A series of exercises compelted for a certain amount of time/reps after one another
What is Interval training?
Physical training alternating between stages of high and low intensity activity
What is plyometrics training?
Exercises when muscles use maxium force in short intervals of time
What is Weight training?
Involves shifting weight to increase the strength of the muscle using a programme of exercises
Aerobics class
Mainly aerobic exercises to music, covering a variety of exercises
Body pump class
Exercise to music, normally using low weights with many repetitions and a variety of exercises e.g. lunges and squats
Pilates
A series of core exercises focusing on the quality of the exercise rather than the quantity - less vigorous but working on range of movement
Yoga
Ancient form of exercise that focuses of postures and poses, breathing and sometimes meditation, to boost physical and emotional well being
Spinning
Aerobic and anerobic cycling on a stationary bike to music
