be aware of touch sensitivities - they may not like being touched, clearly explain what you are about to do
address auditory sensitivities - you could offer noise cancelling headphones or calming music
provide visual aids - you can use drawings or images to help explain procedures
how may you schedule appts for autistic patients?
maintain routine and order - schedule appts in advance and try maintain the same dental team as much as possible
end every visit on a positive note - positive reinforcement for their cooperation
what can you offer to autistic pts prior to their appt?
pre visit pack - with images/ videos of dental instruments and procedures
