Q

VOR Approach primary source and approach type

A

a VOR approach is just another approach with vertical guidance. The FMS is the primary source – however AC 90-108 requires active monitoring of the ground based station and course guidance – this is accomplished in the ERJ with the use of the preview needles. See also AFM Supplement 4 Primus Epic – Next gen flight management system.
