What is web mining and what type of data can be mined?

Analysts can enrich their data by supplementing it with data from the internet. First they track down resources that might be relevant, then they retrieve all the necessary data.

What kind of content can be mined? Virtually anything:

Website content. Text, images, files, and tables.

Website structures. Any element of a site’s structure (e.g. links and relationships between pages).

User information. Information about users’ interaction with a website, such as data on visitors from an analytics service.
