1st stage of Labour

spontaneous onset between 37-42 weeks of pregnancy, low risk, birth of baby in vertex position
-feeling restless, nausea, shaking and panick

Latent and Active labour

Latent=6-8 hours of contractions, cervix dilates to 4cm and effaces-shortens from 3cm-0.5cm long
encourage to stay at home, sleep, eat and drink, bath
Active=rapid dilation 0.5-1cm in an hour
begins at 3-4cm, complete at 10cm
regular painful contractions

Intrapartum period

end of pregnancy with onset of labour and ends with birth of baby and placenta
