Define Adolescence

typically begins in middle school and continues through high school—an explosive period of development begins. In fact, more development happens during adolescence than at any other time outside of the first year of life. Kids in early adolescence in particular experience tremendous changes across the developmental domains.

Q

What is Maturation?

A

The most effective teachers are the ones that understand the maturation processes that their students are experiencing as they move from one developmental stage to another. There are many different developmental domains, and there is usually a discernable pattern for “typical” development across these different domains at a given age level.
