STAR:
Supervisors will respond on?
A
- There is credible information the subject is armed with a firearm or other dangerous weapon (not simulated or unseen) AND using it in a manner that can cause death or serious bodily injury.
- Subject is acting in a threatening manner with the weapon.
- This will not include open carry subjects or pocket knives, when carrying the weapon(s) is the sole justification for the call.

Upon notification from communications reference a STAR Protocol, Supervisors will?
A
Acknowledge the call from dispatch and SELF DISPATCH. If unable to respond, supervisors will ensure that communications requests a supervisor from another area.

A
- Respond and supervise tactics
- Make determination for the use of tools and resources including Rifles.
- ANSEC workup.
- If not a STAR protocol, ensures the reasoning is documented in CAD.
- AAR and Hazard placed on residence/subject. (If a legit Threat)
