What is Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS)?
A severe immune-mediated hypersensitivity reaction causing skin and mucous membrane detachment, ranging from mild lesions to toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN).
What are typical early symptoms of SJS?
Flu-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat, and malaise.
Describe the characteristic skin lesion seen in SJS.
Target lesions that can blister, peel, and cause widespread rash.
What is a positive Nikolsky sign?
Skin blisters or peels off with slight pressure.
What is the primary immediate treatment for SJS?
Immediate withdrawal of the causative drug.
What long-term complications can SJS cause?
Skin scarring and pigmentation changes, nail dystrophy, mucosal strictures, and eye problems like photophobia and vision impairment.
