Definition
Struck is an acute, infectious, toxemic disease of adult sheep
Etiology
caused by the toxin of Cl. perfringens type C
characterized clinically by
short course, sudden death, ulcerative necrotic enteritis and peritonitis

Transmission and mode of infection:
The feces of animals and soiL The mode of natural infection is by ingestion.
Susceptible host
Adult sheep which are in good condition
Pathogenesis
Spores of Clostridium perfringens type C from contaminated food or water reach the intestine, where the anaerobic environment allows them to germinate into vegetative forms. The bacteria multiply, release toxins, which enter the blood, causing capillary rupture. Increased capillary permeability leads to fluid accumulation lead to shock and death.
Clinical signs
Enteritis, diarrhea, toxemia

- Lesion from fluid, intestine - detect gram positive rod

Differential Diagnosis
diseases that cause sudden deaths such as Anthrax, Black disease and acute poisoning.
Prevention and control
Vaccine , colostrum
