An existing idea in Europe – that advocated opening up space for expanding population and needs of superior races.

A
In Germany, there was support for the idea that more land was needed for farming to feed and house the expanding population.

A
Hitler’s racial ideology fitted with this concept as Lebensraum would mean expansion in East and the conquering of ‘inferior’ Slavs in Poland and Russia and the eradication of Bolshevism.
