Summary 10 - The Final Solution Flashcards
(4 cards)
When did the Nazi’s implement the ‘final solution’ to the ‘Jewish problem’?
Between 1942 and early 1945
Describe the efficiency of the killings?
The Nazis created a bureaucratic killing machine, even as defeat loomed the killings were accelerated.
This marked a change from the confused and varied actions of pre-1942
How many people were murdered in total? (mainly Jews but some POWs, dissidents, disabled people were also killed)
Between 5 and 6 million
Why did the Nazis carry out the ‘final solution?’
Previous plans (Madagascar/deportation to the General Government area of Poland) had shown that there were too many Jews to be dealt with by such plans. Radical new policies were needed.
