what is an advocate?
someone who speaks on behalf of an individual who is unable to speak for themselves.
who may need an advocate?
1.Young children
2.Someone with Alzheimers/Dementia
3.Someone with a learning/physical disability
what may advocates do?
1.Find information for the person
2.Write letters for them
3.Go to meetings for/with them
what is an example of a support group
- Mind
- Age UK
what does a support group do?
help to empower people to take control when they have or care for someone who has aa disability or illness
what is informal support?
Informal support is that provided by people such as friends, family and neighbours.
what kind of support is provided informally?
1.Keeping company/having a chat
2.Emotional support
3.Advice/information
