Q

Where is keratinized stratified squamous epithelia located?

17
Q

Where is nonkeratinized stratified squamous epithelia located?

A

Mouth and Vagina

18
Q

What is the function of the stratified cuboidal epithelia?

A

It is used for secretion

19
Q

Where is the stratified cuboidal epithelia located?

A

It is located in the sweat glands

20
Q

What is the function of the transitional epithelia?

A

it is used for stretching

21
Q

Where is the transitional epithelia located?

A

It is located in the urinary bladder

22
Q

What are glands?

A

-Structure that makes and secretes a product
-Formed by epithelial tissues that grew inward into the connective tissue

23
Q

What are exocrine glands?

A

They are glands that releases secretions to the apical surface through a duct
(think local actions)

24
Q

What are endocrine glands?

A

They are glands that releases secretions into the bloodstream (distant actions)

25
What are unicellular glands?
They are typically exocrine, and composed of one cell
26
What are goblet cells?
The most common unicellular gland that produce mucus
27
What are multicellular glands ?
They are made from clusters of secretory cells
28
What is the process of merocrine secretion?
The secretory epithelial cells have secretory vesicles and then product is released by exocytosis
29
What is the process of holocrine secretion?
First epithelial cell undergoes mitosisi to replace a shed cell and then product accumulates in the secretory epithelial cell and lastly the cell is shed and ruputred by epithelial cells releasinng product
