1) Battle of Trafalgar: Defeated by British, could no longer invade Britain
2) Continental system: French tried to forbid trade to britain, but backfired by corruption and britain blockading France
3) Peninsular War: France invaded spain and tried to punish portugal, but lead to 5-year conflict w/ spain.
4) Invasion of Russia: 95% of the french troops would die in freexing weather in a rejected atempt to conquer russia.

both admired and resented. MAde laws that reflectied FR goals, but also power hungry resulting in loosing war.

Long term: future europenan movements uinfluenced by revolution. France eventually becomes republic in 1870’s

    Holy alliance was set up to stamp out any future revolution activity across europe.
