Supplies flow from clean core, through operating room, to outer peripheral corridor.

Seamless floors that are continuous with walls
Stainless steel surfaces
Epoxy paint, reduces chipping
Air is vented in ceiling, exhaust at floor
Positive pressure

How many air exchanges are done in the OR air?

20 air exchanges per hour are required and at least 6 must be fresh air

What is a gas scavenger system and is it mandatory?

Yes it is mandatory.
It prevents build up of waste anesthetic gases with recirculated air

Describe the air pressure in the OR

It is a positive air pressure.
It is different than that in the corridors, scrub rooms, and sub sterile areas
Forces air from room
Without it microorganism could enter room

What should the temp be in the OR?

Maintained between 20-23 degrees

What should the relative humidity be in the OR room and why?

30-60% to suppress bacterial growth and static electricity
