Titration Internal Part A Flashcards

1
Q

When measuring the 20ml aliquot of the consumer sample what was used and why

A

A pipette was used instead of a measuring cylinder because a pipette is a more accurate tool for measuring small volumes.

2
Q

How can we measure accurately using the pipette

A

We look at the miniscus at eye level to avoid parralex error so we read the measurements correctly.

Q

How do you measure accurately with a volumetric flask

A

By looking at the bottom of the miniscus at eye level to avoid parralex error, so results are read correctly

Q

How did I ensure validity

A

I ensured my procedure would allow for titrations between 10-25ml. This is because titrations below 10ml are too small and are likely to have more errors. Titrates above 25ml are time consuming and waste quantities of chemicals and can lead to errors if the burette has to be refilled mid titration

Q

When calculating the expected volume i had to do what

A

I had to ensure my results were in range so I could understand a successful following titration procedures. I discovered that if I were to use a dilution ratio of xxxx using a xx pipette and xxx volumetric flask, my result would be xxxx which is/isn’t in desired range
