1
Q

what is Prothrombin Time (PT)

A

The PT is essentially a measure of the efficiency of the EXTRINSIC clotting system – FVII in addition to FV, FX, Prothrombin and Fibrinogen.

Q

what is Clauss Fibrinogen based on

A

the addition of an excess of thrombin to platelet poor plasma. The fibrinogen concentration becomes the rate-limiting factor and the clotting time is a function of the fibrinogen concentration. A calibration curve shows a shortening of the clotting time with increasing fibrinogen concentration
