Trauma Triage Flashcards
(18 cards)
Trauma Triage Paed
Trauma Triage Adult (Part 1)
Trauma Triage Adult (Part 2)
What is considered “immediate life threat”
What are the abnormal VSS on Trauma Triage
What are the 3 categories of pattern of injury?
- Penetrating trauma
- Blunt Trauma
- Specific Injuries
What are the specific injuries?
Do penetrating injuries to the limb count in “Pattern of injuries” in the trauma triage?
No
How many body regions are considered enough in the “blunt trauma” in POI
Whats included in the MOI
Who is considered “vulnerable” when it comes to trauma triage
Recite the Paediatric Trauma Triage Table
VSS - HR, RR, SBP, SpO2, GCS
For ages - 0-3m, 4-12m, 1-4yrs, 5-11 yrs, 12-15yrs
What are the PAEDIATRIC Specific Injuries meeting major trauma criteria
Hint: same as adult except BURNS
BURNS > 10% TBSA
What are the PAEDIATRIC High risk injuries for Major Trauma
Hint: Same as adult, except vulnerability
Paeds are already considered vulnerable?
As per trauma triage CPG, pattern of injury, list 4 specific injuries
- Limb amputation or limb threatening injury
- Suspected SCI or spinal #
- Burns >20% TBSA
- Suspected respiratory tract burns
- High voltage (>1000 volts) burn injury
- Serious crush injury
- Serious crush injury
- Major compound fracture or open dislocation
- Fracture to 2 or more or femur/tibia/humerus (long bone)
- Fractured pelvis
As per trauma triage CPG, list 2 actions that must be performed if the patient meets the category of immediate life threat
- Closest trauma service
- Escalate care
- Signal 1 with notification
- Notify ARV (if destination is not an MTS)
As per trauma triage CPG, list 4 mechanisms of injury
- Motorcyclist/cyclist impact > 30 km/hr
- High speed MCA > 60km/hr
- Pedestrian impact
- Ejection from vehicle
- Prolonged extrication
- Fall from height > 3m
- Struck on head by object falling > 3m
- Explosion
If the patient has sustained a blunt force trauma, under what circumstances would they meet the category pattern of injury
- Serious injury to a single body region such that specialised care or intervention may be required or such that life, limb or long term quality of life may be at risk
- Significant injuries involving more than one body region
