Please test the following muscle: Piriformis
Have patient lying face down.
- Lift leg up from knee and slightly adduct it.
- Place supporting hand on the sacrum
- Ask the patient to resist you bringing the leg out.
Please test the following muscle: Hamstrings
Have patient lying face down.
- Bring leg up from the knee
- Place hand on the sacrum
- Push leg down at the ankle and get patient to resist.
Please test the following muscle: Soleus.
Have patient lying face down.
- Bring leg up from the knee
- Get patient to point toe to the roof
- Stabilise at the ankle
- Push foot down and ask patient to resist.
Please test the following muscle: Gastrocnemius.
Have patient lying face down.
- Get patient to point their toes into plantar flexion.
- Stablise thru the ankle
- Get patient to resist you pushing their toes to the ground.
Please test the following muscle: Gluteus Maximus.
Have patient lying face down.
- Bend patients knee
- Extend patients hip
- Stablise hand on the sacrum
- Ask patient to resist you from pushing their leg to the table.
Please test the following muscle: Gluteus Medius.
Have patient lying face up.
- Lift patients leg out and off the table.
- Have stabilizing hand on the opposite ankle.
- Ask patient to resist you bringing their ankles together.
Please test the following muscle: Gluteus Minimus.
Have patient lying face up.
- Bring leg into straight adduction.
- Have stabilizing hand on the opposite ankle.
- Ask patient to resist you bringing their ankles together.
Please test the following muscle: Tensor Fascia Lata (TFL).
Have patient lying face up.
- Internally rotate the leg.
- Lift the leg up and out.
- Have stabilizing hand on the opposite ankle.
- Ask patient to resist you bringing their ankles together.
Please test the following muscle: Extensor Hallicus Longus
Have patient lying face up.
- Get patient to lift the big toe up.
- Support thru holding the foot.
- Ask patient to resist you pulling their big toe down.
Please test the following muscle: Adductors as a group.
Have patient lying face up.
- If testing the right hand side, move the legs to the left, if testing the left hand side, move the legs to the right.
- Get the patient to resist you from pulling their ankles apart.
Please test the following muscle: Psoas Major.
Have patient lying face up.
- Lift leg up and out.
- Externally rotate.
- Stabilizing hand on the opposite ASIS.
- Get patient to resist you pushing their leg down to the table.
Please test the following muscle: Quadriceps
Have patient lying face up.
- Bend both knees up.
- Come under the leg and up, resting your hand on the opposite knee.
- Lift the leg with your arm.
- Place hand on the tibia and ask patient to kick their leg up.
Please test the following muscle: Tibialis Posterior
Have patient lying face up.
- Place foot into plantar flexion and invert the foot.
- Place stabilizing hand on the leg.
- Get patient to resist you from pushing the foot up and out.
Please test the following muscle: Tibialis Anterior.
Have patient lying face up.
- Dorsiflex and invert the foot
- Stabilize the inside of the leg.
- Get the patient to resist you from pulling their foot down and out.
Please test the following muscle: Fibularis (Peroneal) Longus/Brevis.
Have patient lying face up.
- Get foot to plantarflex and evert.
- Stabilize hand on inside of the tibia.
- Have hand on the outside of the foot and get patient to resist you from bringing the foot in and up.
Please test the following muscle: Peroneal Tertius.
Have patient lying face up.
- Have foot in dorsiflexion.
- Stabilize the inside of the leg.
- Have hand on the side of the foot and get patient to resist you from pulling the foot in and down.
