  • Favelas lack proper toiletry facilities therefore resort to build up of excrement and toxins in open sewers which cause air pollution.
  • Some of this drains into water supplies which causes water pollution in Rio too

In terms of plastic pollution and CO2 emmissions, Rio’s 2016 Olympic Games Hosting caused excessive waste to be dumped causing pollution from tourists and locals
