41
Q

What 2 techniques use polarization to assess pot acuity in dense catract?

A

Hadinger brush

Maddox rod orientation

42
Q

Whats the optical principle behind night myopa?

A

Spherical abberation

Lights bends differently whether it goes thru center or edge of a lens

43
Q

At what wavelength is light sent into eye in fa and what wavelength is emitted?

A

485 sent in

530 emitted

44
Q

Ddx ring infiltrate

Path

A

Pseudomonas
Acanthombea
Topical anesthic abuse
Herpes

45
Q

How does retinoscopy work?

A

At neutralization the far point of the eye coincides w the peephole of the retinoscope, so the pupil appears to fill with light. When the far point of the eye is in front of or behind the examiner only some of the light returning from the eye goes thru the retinoscope peephole. If the eye has too much plus power, the light is inverted before it reaches the ovserver and it appears as “against” movement”

46
Q

What devices use the principle of optical doubling?

A

Goldmann applination
Keratometry
Pachymetry

47
Q

How does an old fashioned and modern pachyneter work?

A

Old fashioned based on optical doubling and attached to the sl
Newer uses ultrasound

48
Q

Name 5 ways to eval k topography

A
Keratometer
Placido disc
Videokeratometry
Wavefront analysis
Pentacam topography
49
Q

How does an applination tonineter work?

A

Uses optical doubling principle
Applinated area is 3.06 mm in diameter. Force is read off in dynes and is converted to mm hg.
If theres signif astigmatism you should rotate the prism so the red mark alignes w the axis of the pts minus cylinder

50
Q

Whats the magnification of the retina using a direct ophthalmosvope?

A

15x
Uses eye as simple magnifier
60/4=15

51
Q

Whats the mag of the retina if using a 20D lens?

A

60/20= 3

52
Q

What can you do if pt has momocular diplopia?

A

Put up pinhole. It usually makes the siplopia gonaway

53
Q

How can you treat a pt w monocular diplopia?

A
