“Pasar” y “ocurrir” son los dos que más se utilizan habitualmente, en conversaciones: “¿Qué te ha pasado?”, “¿qué te ha ocurrido?”

“Suceder” tampoco se utiliza en el día a día, pero es frecuente verlo en periódicos o escucharlo en programas de noticias en TV.

“Acontecer” y “acaecer” no se utilizan en el día a día, sólo en libros. Son las más literarias.

Todas las palabras tienen el mismo significado, o muy parecido. Se diferencian en cuándo se usan:
