Week 11 - Sensations And Motor Control Flashcards
(18 cards)
What are the classifications of sensory receptors by stimulus type?
Mechanoreceptors (touch, pressure, vibration, stretch), Thermoreceptors (change in temperature), Photoreceptors (respond to light), Chemoreceptors (chemicals in solution, air, smell or taste) and Nociceptors (damaging chemicals, extreme hot/cold, excessive pressure).
What are the classifications of sensory receptors by location?
Exteroceptors (outside body or on surface), Interoceptors (Inside body, visceral) and Proprioceptors (respond to internal stimuli, advise brain on body position).
What is the location and function of tactile receptors?
What is the location and function of thermal receptors?
What is the location and function of nocicoceptors?
What is the location and function of proprioceptors?
What are the major steps in processing olfactory stimulation?
