What happens during the enlightenment?
People begin to become radicalized and want to be free. One of the advocators for this is Mary Wollstonecraft.
How was Mary Wollstonecraft viewed?
She was viewed as irrational and emotional. Burke was defended as a result to keep the church, monarchy, and aristocracy
What did Mary Wollstonecraft do?
She violated the public sphere and argued for women to be included because they reasoned. A simple reason to qualify.
What were some arguments of Wollstonecraft?
Women lack reason not because of nature but because of nurture. They are left out of stuff from their education
What is true about binary thinking and women of color?
Although the binary was reinforced, it was not applied to women of color.
What was the goal of liberal feminists?
To allow women to integrate into society and take positions that normally were only for men

Liberal thinking a product of Enlightenment colonial powers: much of the world and its people are viewed as objects (of fascination, pity, contempt)
