What does the word liberal mean?
liber=free
What do radical feminists want?
They do not see women as similar to men. They are not satisfied with merely seeking inclusion in the status quo. They see the problem as men and not that they do not see women as equal.
What makes radicals different from liberals?
They believed that changing the laws was not enough. They believe that to fix it, it means to reconstruct society and separation of men.
What is true about radical feminists?
They often worked on anti-radical and anti-war causes with males
What happened between the radicals and the movements they supported?
They realized that the men who were in these movements were not for them. They treated them the same and still were sexist and oppressive
What were liberals not doing?
Weren’t looking to undermine heteronormative structure of society—just make it “fair’

They both affect them differently because gay men still had social power in patriarchies

Sex is political because one group dominates the other.
What did radical feminist seek?
They seek to find the root of the problem. They found it in the patriarchy, institutions, heterosexuality, etc.
What did radicals find in the external results of the patriarchy?
Women are denied their sexuality, their sexuality is enforced, women are cramped, etc.
What do radical feminist think of the world?
Radical feminists see the “normal” world as a construction of patriarchy, not nature

Marriage is only necessary due to compulsory heterosexuality

They are taught that a boy is the default. Because of this, they marry to survive economically and feel protected for themselves and their children.
