Week 3 Perception Learning and Memory Flashcards
(13 cards)
What are the three steps of the perceptual process
- exposure
- attention
- interpretation
What is perceptual vigilance
consumers mire likely to be aware of stimuli that relate to their current needs
what is adaption
the degree to which consumers notice a stimulus over time
What is perceptual defence
people see what they want to see
What is a sensory threshold
- the point at which a stimuli is strong enough to make a conscious impact in a persons awareness
What is an absolute threshold
- the minimum amount of simultation that can be detected on a sesnory channel
What is a differential threshold
- the ability of a sesnory system to detect changes or difference between two stimuli
What is webers law
- Just noticeable difference
What is guerrilla marketing
creative, outrageous, marketing technique e.g flash mobs
What is interpretation
the meaning we assingn to sensory stimuli
Whats interpretational bias
it is up to us to determine the meaning based on our experiences, expectations and needs
What is the gestalt principle
- a stimulus will be interpretaed based on its assumed relationship with other events, sensations or imgaes
- the whole is greater than the sum of its parts
What are the three points of gestalt principle
- figure and ground
- grouping
- closure principle
