where survival is impossible - ie decapitation, incineration, cranial and cerebral destruction, hemicorporectomy - with absence of life signs - dont need to resus

A

unwitnessed arrest and inital rythem of asystole is assoicated with extremly high mortalit. should withold resus if time between collapse and arrival of first reposnder is belived to exceed 10 minutes.

what should cesation of resus be based on?

A

the inital rythem rather than the rythem pt in when deciding to stop

prognositc factors such as age, bystander cpr, prolonged down time can be used to guide the length following the minimum resus time of 30-45 minutes

A

respect it - if sigted cease or with hold resus or take in god faith a persons wishes from people that know them at the scene

what are the times for ceasing resus?

A

inital non shockable rythem - 30-45 mins of als resus

inital shockable rythem - 45 mins of resus then if not able to be transported with mechanical CPR or other compelling reasons to stop
