Advantages of WSD

A

no worries about differences between groups, statistically more powerful because individual differences are controlled.

Q

Best designs for situations

A

Individual differences - use within subjects because it controls for this.
Few participants - use within subjects because each person is in all conditions.
Time related effects or carry over effects - use between subjects because participants are only in one condition.

Q

Mixed designs

A

more than one IV, at least one of the IVs is between-subjects and at least one IV is within-subjects. Different participants get one of the levels of the 1st IV, SAME participants then experience both levels of the 2nd IV.
