Decrease the surface area of the habitat, hence decreasing the resources available, decreasing species richness as there will be smaller populations - leading to a decrease in biodiversity

How to prevent habitat fragmentation

A

Use of habitat corridors links the isolated fragments, allow the movement of animals between them allowing an increased access to food and a choice of mate.
