What happened in 1922?
extended: how did the west react?
The Bolsheviks had one the civil war and hence Russia was officially changed to the USSR
IN CONSEQUENCE = the west disproved of communistic beliefs and were even more outraged at the prospect of communist take over
What big agreement happened in 1938?
Extended = how did the USSR perceive this?
Britain, France and Italy ALLOWED Germany to take over parts of Czechoslovakia that contained ethnic Germans (agreed behind the USSR’s back)
AND SO … the USSR felt betrayed and believed that B,F and I were trying to get Germany to invade the USSR (as Czech is close to their boarder) and have their communist government dismantled leading them into believing the west didn’t want a friendly relationship

The Nazi-Soviet pact is a pact made between Hitler and Stalin to split Poland between them and an agreement for a non - aggression pact (so no fighting each other)
Signed in August 1939
Britain + France were protected the inoccupation of Poland and hence this pact allowed Germany closer access to B + F
They felt betrayed and concluded that they didn’t want to aid the Soviets after that

How did it contribute to the start of WW2
In sept 1939, Soviet and German forces took over Poland
B + F’s only response was to declare war on Germany which lead to the start of WW2
