80,000 CCP members broke out of the Jiangxi soviet and began a Long march to safety
What tactics did Otto Braun suggest to the CCP?
advised straight line for speed and for them to bring all their belongings so they’d have resources
how did Braun lead the CCP to failure?
his tactics lead them to be slowed down by belongings and easy to track by GMD due to their straight path

What did Mao contribute to the long march?
He changed tactics (broke into 3 groups and took long complicated roots) - this confused the GMD (more members of CCP survived)
Where did the CCP end up? and how many members were left?
Yanan - 10,000
What were the outcomes of the Long March?
- proved as propaganda for Red Army (showed bravery and comradery)
- the huge retreat of CCP secured GMD’s spot as official gov in China
- Red Army won support of peasants as they treated them all well
- allowed communism to develop in Yanan for 10 yrs
