What was the consequence of the allied capture of Vittorio Veneto?

A

Austrian resistance crumbled. As the soldiers fell back, their retreat became a rout. After a ten day campaign, the allies had taken 300,000 prisoners and 5,000 guns. The battle marked the final collpase of the Austrian armies on the Italian front and two days later, on 2 November, an armistice was signed at Padua
