A

Henry had to insure that England would not be vulnerable to a French invasion
so he agreed to the Treaty of Medina del Campo in 1489 with Spain

Why was the Medina del Campo so important?

A

it was a high point for English diplomacy and meant Spain was now blocked for potential Yorkist claimants

the Treaty also included negotiations of marriage between prince Arthur and Catherine of Aragon further cementing this relationship

A

When Warbeck fled to France and was supported by the French king
Henry invaded France to pressure the French king to relinquish the support of Warbeck
they agreed upon the Treaty of Etaples in 1492

Why was the Treaty of Etaples so important?

A

It meant that Warbeck was banished from France and couldn’t be a threat from this place
England also received a pension from France of £5000 a year to pay compensation for the cost of the war that didn’t even happen!

the Magnus Intercursus was agreed with Burgundy and the Holy Roman Empire on the 24th of Feb 1496

so that they would stop supporting Yorkist exiles

A

this was important as it meant trade could proceed between burgundy and England again
English merchants can now trade freely without paying custom duties helping the English economy
it also cemented the marriage between Arthur and Catherine of Aragon further

it meant Warbeck was now banished from Scotland and lost their support
