A

Depressant. bad judgement, slows sympathetic nervous system -> slow reaction time, slurred speech. Being sleep makes you more drunk. Disrupts memory, less self awareness/self control, more GABA causes less anxiety, more Dopamine and Serotonin

Depressant. deadly when combined with alcohol.

A

Depressant. decrease CNS functioning. Euphoric/pain-free. Examples are Morphine and Opium. Brain stops making natural opiates if taken too much, so they’re highly addictive.

A

Stimulant. increases Dopamine. More addictive to men, very hard to break. Effects can last years after going clean.

Caffeine

A

Stimulant. 90% of humans consume it daily. Present in things like coffee and soda. Effects last 3-4 hours for normal doses and a healthy person, but can last much longer in special cases. Increases norepinephrine.

Nicotine

A

Stimulant. Present in smoking and smokeless tobacco. 7s to reach brain when inhaled, lasts 2h. Increases norepinephrine and epinephrine. Unlikely to pick it up if you are past early adolescence. low amounts cause energy, high amounts cause relaxation.

Stimulant. Increases dopamine which causes people to act like a schizophrenic. Originally in coca-cola.

A

treats ADHD, functions from low arousal theory. Ritalin is a reuptake inhibitor, Adderall causes an increase in dopamine. It doesn’t help people without ADHD to concentrate any better.

Hallucinogen. Found by someone accidently eating a mushroom. Time distortions, out-of body experiences, sometimes pleasant, sometimes very terrible. Memory loss, paranoia, nightmares, panic attacks, distortions lasting years. More serotonin and dopamine.
