where is the adductor canal located

extends from apex of femoral triangle to adductor hiatus of adductor magnus


name the borders of the adductor canal

anterior = sartorius
posterior = adductor longus and magnus
lateral = vastus medialis

1. saphenous n. and n. to vastus medialis
2. femoral artery and vein (delivered to popliteal fossa)

- adductor canal block: local anaesthetic is administered in adductor canal to block saphenous n. in isolation or together with n. to vastus medialis
- provides sensory anaesthesia for procedues involving distal thigh and femur, knee and lower leg on medial side
