Biology Tossue Fluid Flashcards

Q

How is tissue fluid formed?

A

Artery reaches tissues it breaks into arterioles>network of capillaries > link up with venules> carry blood back to veins
Arterial end - hydrostatic pressure is high due to the contraction of the wart muscle> pushes blood out if capillary> only substances that are small neigh to fit through gaps in capillary are squeezed out as tissue fluid (gasses)> plasma proteins/cells are too big to fit through (exchange of gasses happen through diffusion/facilities diffusion > stay in capillary which reduces the water potential> in the capillaries it’s less negative than the tissue fluid > combined with the hydrostatic pressure in tissue fluid it moves back into capillaries > veins

Q

Formation of lymph

A

Not all fluid returns to capillaries
Some I drained away in lymphatic system
Consists of vessels/tubes that start in the tissues and drain the excess fluid into larger vessels - rejoin the system
Lymph fluid - less 02 absorbed by
body
More C02- been released by body
Contains lymphocytes swellings found in intervals along the lymphatic system which filter bacteria out (immune system)

Q

Whys does blood contain

A

Red blood cells white blood cells plasma proteins platelets gasses
Tissue fluid doesn’t contain cells or plasma proteins
Role of tissue fluid is to transport oxygen and nutrient and remove co2/waste
