what is operent conditioning?
a three phase process that involves learning an association between a stimulus, a behaviour performed and the resulting consequences
what are the 3 phases in operent conditioning
antecedent, behaviour, consequence
what is the antecedent?
an environmental stimulus that triggers an action
what is the behaviour?
any observable action by an individual
what is the consequence?
something that makes a behaviour more or less likely to occur again
positive reinforcement
something pleasent is added
negative reinforcement
something bad is taken away
postitive punishment
something bad is added
