usually affects sigmoid colon

A
left sided abdominal pain nausea altered bowel habit sepsis PR bleed

how is it diagnosed
A
gastrografin enema
barium enema
sigmoidoscopy / colonoscopy
CT scan

what is treatment of diverticulitis
A
uncomplicated - oral antibiotics
percutaneous drainage (abscess?) + antibiotics
hartmann’s procedure - remove sigmoid colon and attach colostomy bag to descending colon
