Tube is inserted near the upper border of the rib to avoid intercostal VAN (which run in costal groove between internal & innermost intercostals muscles)

Skin –> superficialis fascia –> serratus anterior –> external intercostal muscle –> internal intercostal muscle –> innermost intercostal muscle –> parietal pleura

Posterior angle of the rib, along lower border of rib
