Feedpump Turbine(FPT) Flashcards

1
Q

What is the purpose of the Main Feedwater Pumps?

A

The Main Feedwater Pumps increase system pressure from approximately 500psig at its suction to approximately 1200psig at its discharge at 100% power.

Q

What is the normal supply of steam to the Main Feed Pump Turbines when power is less than 85%

A
  1. Auxiliary Steam

2. High pressure steam from Main Steam is only used if Auxiliary Steam pressure is too low

7
Q

How is steam flow controlled by the poppet assembly in the CFPTs?

A
  1. There are two sets of poppets, High and Low pressure, both actuated by a lifting beam.
  2. The low pressure poppets will open sequentially until the steam flow requirements for the CFPT is met.
  3. If the steam flow requirement is not met with all of the low pressure poppets open the lifting beam will continue to move opening the high pressure poppet.

Q

What is the capacity of the CFPTs?

A

65% of full load feed flow

Testing has shown that one CFPT can maintain S/G level up to approximately 80% power

Q

What is the purpose of the CFPT Steam Steal System?

A

The CFPT Steam Seal System supplies steam to the feedwater pump turbine seals to prevent air in leakage and steam out leakage by applying low pressure steam to a series of shaft seals.

13
Q

Where does the out leakage go from the CFPT Steam Seal System?

A

The out leakage is drawn into the Gland Steam Condenser where the steam is condensed and the air is exhausted to the Unit Vent.

14
Q

What is the purpose of the CFPT Lube Oil System?

A

The CFPT Lube Oil System supplies oil to lubricate and cool the CFPT couplings and bearings, control the CFPT stop and control valves, and to test the overspeed trip device.

15
Q

How many CFPT Lube Oil Pumps are there?

A
  1. There are two AC motor driven pumps that provide bearing and control oil pressure during normal operations.
  2. There is one DC motor driven Emergency Bearing Oil Pump.

16
Q

What is unique about the CFPT Emergency Bearing Oil Pump?

A

The Emergency Bearing Oil Pump only supplies oil pressure to the bearings, and not to control oil.

17
Q

What will automatically start the standby CFPT Lube Oil Pump?

A
  1. 175psig control oil pressure

2. Trip of the running lube oil pump

18
Q

What will cause an automatic start of the Emergency Bearing Oil Pump?

A

The EBOP will automatically start if bearing manifold pressure decreases to 25psig

19
Q

What system provides the cooling water for the CFPT Lube Oil Coolers?

A

Recirculated Cooling Water(KR)

20
Q

What is the power supply to the Mark VI Computer System?

A

Unit 1:
KXPA - A Cabinet
KXPB - B Cabinet

Unit 2:
KXPA(Primary)/KXPB(Backup) - A Cabinet
KXPB(Primary)/KXPA(Backup) - B Cabinet

21
Q

What is the power supply for the CFPT Main Oil Pumps?

A

MXD (A1/B1)

MXG (A2/B2)

22
Q

What is the power supply for the Emergency Bearing Oil Pump?

A

1DPD / 2DPD

23
Q

What is the purpose of the CFPT Seal Water Injection System?

A

The CFPT Seal Water Injection System controls out leakage of high temperature feedwater along the shaft of the Main Feed Pumps by injecting a relatively cooled, and strained, Condensate water into the mechanical seal.

24
Q

Where is CFPT Seal Injection water supplied from, and at what pressure?

A
  1. Seal water is supplied from the outlet of the Hotwell Pumps
  2. Seal water pressure is regulated to approximately 25-30psig above high pressure leakoff pressure.
