Neurodevelopmental Disorders
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Symptoms:
1.) Deficits in social communication and social interaction
- Lack of eye contact
- Lack of use of gestures/facial expressions
- Adjusting behaviors in social contexts
- Understanding body language
2.) Restricted Repetitive Behaviors (RRBs)
- Rocking, hand flapping, making noises, echolalia
- Cannot deal with changes
- Hypersensitivity or hyposensitivity
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- One of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood.
- It is usually first diagnosed in childhood and often lasts into adulthood.
- Persistent pattern of inattention and or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning or development.
ADHD symptoms
1.) INATTENTION means a person may have difficulty staying on task, sustaining focus, and staying organized
2.) HYPERACTIVITY means a person may seem to move about constantly, including in situations when it is not appropriate, or excessively fidgets, taps, or talks. In adults, hyperactivity may mean extreme restlessness or talking too much.
3.) IMPULSIVITY means a person may act without thinking or have difficulty with self-control. An impulsive person may interrupt others or make important decisions without considering long-term consequences.
Sexual Disorders
Sexual Disorder as Paraphilia- unhealthy sexual behaviors considered harmful or socially unacceptable or illegal
- EXHIBITIONISM - genital exposure to an unsuspecting stranger
- VOYEURISM - sexual satisfaction from watching an unsuspecting person naked, undressing or having sex
- FETISHES - sexual fantasies concerning inanimate objects
- FROTTEURISM - sexual urges or behaviors involving touching or rubbing against a non-consenting person
- SADOMASOCHISM - combination of sadism and masochism; fantasies about being bound, humiliate hurting others or being hurt
- PEDOPHILIA - desire for sec with immature children usually under 13 years old
