Q

why is CO bad?

A
  • it permanently binds to haemoglobin
  • in red blood cells
  • instead of oxygen
  • it is toxic

Q

what is acid rain/ what causes does it have?

A
  • acid rain can cause a lake to become more acidic
—> organisms are very sensitive to pH, so they may die
  • acid rain can kill trees
    —> damages leaves
—-> releases toxic substances into the soil
so they don’t get the nutrients they need

Q

how do humans cause sulfur dioxide?

A
  • sulfur dioxide come from sulfur impurities from the fossil fuels
  • fossil fuels are burnt
  • as a gas, it mixes with rain clouds
    —> forms dilute sulfuric acid
  • falls as acid rain
